.. music should I be listening to right now?*

*Yes, LJ has left me incapable of the simplest decisions, handing over any responsibility to everyone else..

I shall take this as an opportunity to plug one of my favourite bands - described memorably by Michael as 'some bloke wailing in a cave' - Black Tape for a Blue Girl. I nominate 'The Scavenger Bride' album, and send you on your merry way.

Or, of course, you could listen to something you actually like...

Thanks.. :)

My record for recomendations is not good. For some reason I seem to have more 'European' tastes than is usual in Britain. Lord alone knows why, my musical roots are in death metal, but in goth it just has to be floaty and that charming little bit morbid.

It all depends on what you're putting the music on for I guess..

BtW Have downloaded One Last Breath and Lie Broken, Bleeding, and i'm loving them, so your recommendations aren't *that* bad. Seeming to fit the mood du jour.. ie self indulgent melancholia, really quite well..
I quite like stuff like that at times.. I adore Dead Can Dance and Faith and the Muse for example..

Think I may have asked you before.. but any more ethereal bands i'm missing that I may like?

Giorgio knows a lot more about it than I do - his MP3 collection is perfectly godlike, whereas my cd collection is somewhat small and patchy - but...

On the same Projekt label as Black Tape we have:

Love Spirals Downwards, recently transformed into Lovespirals with a slightly different sound.

Lycia, now defunct but wonderful.

Faith and Disease

Unto Ashes

In fact, virtually anything on this label.

Elsewhere there's Ataraxia, Italian and quite ravishing, Sopor Aeturnus and the Ensemble of Shadows who you've probably heard of, Current 93 who I don't know well enough to recommend properly, they're very variable but what I know is good, and loads of others, all very patchily represented in my collection.

BTW - just had a couple of texts which much reduce our numbers this evening - may not be as many people as I thought.

Moonspell! Mariza! Misia! All Portuguese, first one Goth-Metal, other two traditional ´Fado´ music (usually slow and meaningful stuff, very beautiful though) :)

I've been listening to Anastasia all week as Lorraines got the album

quite like some of it

and Gemma's Party Monster album's got some luvly glitzy trashy electroclashy moments

especially the track MONEY, SUCCESS, FAME, GLAMOUR

I recommend giving that one a go if you're wanting a little bit of non-ethereal :D
