Jul. 16th, 2008 11:03 pmDear lazywebs:
Reccs please for 250-1000 capacity live music venues in central Liverpool? Looking for something a little unusual decor wise. I'm aware of the usual Barfly/Uni dealys.. anywhere else you've heard of? Especially if they're well known for good acoustics, and an easy team to work with. Proper off ground stage a definite requirement, but backline/sound engineer not essential, as we have that covered.
Just thinking about a few things...
I haven't checked out venues in a while, figure I need to keep up to date with things..

Date: 2008-07-17 03:05 am (UTC)The only ones in central Liverpool that sound like they could suit your needs (from your post) are the uni, or the Barfly, unless you are willing to hire a place that requires that you provide your own sound system. Doing that is a good idea in theory, but transporting the required eqipment and hiring any extra (if needed) could add to your £££ overheads.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:12 am (UTC)Oh, we have all the backline here, just sitting around waiting to be used, and transport sorted etc.. It's just the venue thing really. The uni we've used before with Voltaire, and I liked their set up there. Plus, there's always the option to upgrade to a bigger room there if pre-sales go really well. So I'm edging towards that at the moment. Unless a perfect venue comes up and bites me on the bum that is!

Date: 2008-07-17 10:21 am (UTC)As for Bumper they have two stages on two levels. Last thing I went to there was an all-dayer with loads of bands on, alternating the two stages and it ran like clockw*rk (which will probs appeal to Ms Carrion!) It's possibly not right for a "concert" type event but for a multi-attraction do it's great.
Have you looked at the venue this event is held at?. It's on Wolstenholme Square, next door to Nation (the old Cream venue). It's rilly rilly great.

Date: 2008-07-17 03:18 am (UTC)It's too impractical really. The stage set up is a bit too small for what I have in mind. The venue is run by a collective too, and they can be a bit flaky about what times you can get in to set up/ curfew etc. I need something a bit more professional.
Hrrmm.. think I need to get out and do some (limping) legwork really. It's been a while, and I need to see if there's anything new I'm missing.
