Got this today. Whilst it is undoubtably annoying spam, of the highest kind, it did amuse me somewhat. And if i was bonkers enough to consider the offer in the first place.. why the f*ck would I want to help out a Liberian warlord, on trial for "crimes against humanity"?!? Odd people.. also odd how many people from Nigeria, who are coming into a lot of money they need "redistributing" recently.. hmmm..

for a very reliable Foreigner to assist him in
repatriating the money he has stashed away in A
Security Company overseas.
He left behind with the security company were he
deposited a Trunk Box Containing exactly thirteen
million US dollars(US$13.000,000).
Since he has been granted Asylum by the Nigerian
Government he has not been allowed to Travel out to
any where because the united nations has been trying
to hold him for crimes against Humanity hence he is
looking for a reliable Foreigner who will help him out
by claiming the funds on his behalf with the
information and Back-up Documents of the funds.
He has asked me to offer you a total of 19% of the
total sum and I am going to get the legal aspect of
this transaction done and if you know you are in a
better position to help please do not hesitate to

And don't forget, never ever ever ever ever open or reply to spam. That way they know your e-mail address is working, and it's then worth money to them...

Date: 2003-10-10 07:07 pm (UTC)Did you see the offer of the t-shirt at the bottom of the feature.. and I quote:
"Bootnote
The very last batch of our Ghostly Nigerian 419 shirt is available at Cash'n'Carrion. No advance fees, torture or beatings involved."
The company that makes the t-shirts "celebrating " this particular spam.. is Cash 'n' Carrion.. they must be made for me!! Wonder how much they are.. wonder if /they/ need me to open another account for them!?! Teehee..
Liked the IT guys' response, excellent work, brother :)
And don't worry, I'm very careful about spam usually. This one caught mey attention, as I'd previously heard of these type of Nigerian scams before, but never received one. It was covered at length some time ago in Fortean times. Curiousity got the better of me on this one occasion, i'm afraid, I was intrigued as to how they worded this scam to make it seem feasible to soo many people. I guess some people are just too greedy, in order to make such stupid mistakes as to fall for these guys, and actually give them cash..
I'll be more careful in future, honest guv'!
