Sad Darklands news:

"WIRRAL DATES CANCELLED!

We are sad to announce that Darklands
at the Hotel California in Wirral is now no longer running.

This is due to the old management taking back over the venue and cancelling all of our dates. (with only a days notice before we were due to do septembers date)!

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as this was totally beyond our control.

We hope to organise something in the near future to continue Darklands in the Wirral or Liverpool.

Batastrophe."

This is definately not good news, particularly in light of the story I posted a few days back which may well affect Darklands in York :(

I thought that all nights there were off as of last Tuesday when I got word that the majority of the staff at the Cali were given their marching orders and that a certain previous owner is wanting to turn it into a chav-bar? I dismissed it as hearsay, but it looks like there was some truth in it afterall.

With The Bunker, Hex and Stairways closed, and now the Cali seemingly no longer catering to alternatives, it looks like the future of the alternative scene on the Wirral is even more bleak than it already was.

This getting silly. I vote we all storm a chav bar en masse, take over the dj booth and reclaim the night! FORWARD COMRADES

You have got to be FUCKING JOKING?!

Sorry but...

*speechless*

JESUS FUCK.

*so angry is incoherant*

I was pretty bummed out about this on Friday but thought it might be temporary. But evidently...

I have absolutely no experience in putting on nights but if there is anything me and Mark can do to help get something new up and running..? We're seriously considering trying to get something going in Chester when we've moved there and all settled in (hopefully at the end of the year) despite the fact that nobody seems to GO to stuff that DOES get put on, because damn it if we're letting the Scene go under without a fight.

Apparently there's some new thing on in City Bar, Friday 24th Oct, called Blackout? No idea if it's generic alternative or what but looks like something at least.

*cries*
